Over the course of our 2020-2021 insurance hot topics virtual series, we covered pertinent accounting, financial, operational and transformational updates, and provided guidance for insurance companies moving forward. In the fifth webinar in this year’s series, Baker Tilly Financial Services Partner and Insurance Regulatory practice leader, John Romano, will facilitate a conversation with regulatory and insurance industry professionals.

The panel will focus on two key areas — the NAIC’s commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace, and best practices for examinations in a remote environment. While the NAIC’s initiatives are still in their infancy, the panelists will discuss what they know about the NAIC’s goals for 2021 and share their perspectives. Panelists will also discuss examination changes that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic, and outline successful practices insurance companies have seen to help facilitate in a new, unconventional environment.

Key learning objectives:
  • Understand NAIC’s Special Executive Committee on Race and Insurance five work streams aimed to amplify their diversity and inclusion efforts
  • Review how COVID-19 has changed the examination process
  • Learn successful practices that our regulatory panel has observed throughout the examination period during COVID-19
Presenters:
  • John Romano,  Partner, Financial Services, Baker Tilly
  • Dan Applegarth, Chief Financial Examiner, P&C Oversight, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation
  • William Arfanis, Supervisor, Connecticut Department of Insurance
  • Matthew Milford, Director, Financial Examinations, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Mark Murphy, Supervising Examiner, Connecticut Department of Insurance
