Final foreign tax credit (FTC) regulations were released by the U.S. Treasury Department and IRS in late December and published in the Federal Register on January 4, 2022. This regulations package (2021 Final Regulations) marks the fourth significant revision of FTC regulations since the TCJA’s enactment. This latest revision primarily concerns the determination of the FTC and the allocation and apportionment of deductions (including foreign income taxes) in determining the FTC limitation.
