Program Content: Navigating the international tax landscape has become particularly complicated for investors in pass-through entities. In response to this, the IRS released Schedules K-2 and K-3. The schedules are designed to provide greater clarity for pass-through investors on how to compute their U.S. income tax liability with respect to items of international tax relevance (generally foreign activities or foreign partners) but present a host of challenges for pass-through filers. Join us for a discussion on what compliance issues pass-through filers should be aware of and how to prepare for this sweeping compliance change. We will also discuss some of the technology challenges and solutions, the risks presented by this new requirement, and actions that should be taken now to avoid any unforeseen roadblocks when complying with these new requirements.

Learning objectives

  • Describe the new Schedules K-2 and K-3 reporting requirements
  • Identify additional information gathering that may be required to complete the Schedules
  • Cite and display relevant sections of the Schedules
