Every three years, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires hospitals that are subject to the Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) to complete an Occupational Mix Survey which is applied to wage index data. Surveys are due this summer, take considerable time to complete, and the smallest changes can have a significant impact to future reimbursement.
