Most exempt organizations are now aware of the potential impact that tax reform will have on their respective organizations.

While there are still many unanswered questions about certain key provisions of the new law, exempt organizations should be planning and developing implementation strategies for certain provisions so that they are prepared when additional guidance is issued. To assist general counsel and tax professionals with planning and implementation strategies for certain key tax reform provisions, we have brought together a team of Ernst & Young LLP professionals to share their insights.

The following topics will be discussed:

  • Legislative update
  • Strategic planning ideas for key provisions directly impacting exempt organizations, including:
    • Excise tax on certain types of compensation (Section 4960)
    • Unrelated business taxable income on certain types of fringe benefits (Section 512(a)(7))
    • Unrelated business taxable income calculated separately for each trade or business (Section 512(a)(6))
  • Tax reform and the future: impact on transactions and other matters
