Speaker Bio

Fernando Alvarez

Associate Director


Fernando is an Associate Director within the Risk and Compliance practice. Fernando has over 10 years of program integrity and fraud risk/prevention experience within the Federal Government, private healthcare payors and the healthcare provider community. He has led and overseen numerous fraud, waste and abuse analytical projects which resulted in investigative, fraud risk strategies and predictive analytic fraud risk models utilized by Federal agencies today.

Prior to joining Protiviti, Fernando was most recently a Senior Manager at Deloitte within their Program Integrity practice specializing in the prevention and investigation of Medicare and Medicaid fraud for the federal government. Fernando is recognized for his expertise of fraud prevention and fraud risk in the healthcare industry and applying forensic, investigative and analytic technology to address healthcare’s complex fraud challenges. Prior to Deloitte, Fernando was the Director of the CMS Division of Field Operations – South in Miami, Florida. He has a track record of utilizing his knowledge to shape and develop most of the recent Medicare and Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse investigative strategies currently utilized by CMS and its contractors. Fernando is a frequent speaker on FWA, healthcare data analytics and investigative methodologies at numerous Medicare and Medicaid Anti Fraud conferences across the nation.

Dennis is a Director within the Risk and Compliance Practice. He is an international subject matter expert in counter-fraud, with deep domain knowledge across Financial Services, including the property casualty, life, and disability insurance markets. Working with customers across the globe for close to 30 years implementing and operationalizing counter-fraud and compliance technology, analytics, and processes.

Dennis’ industry experience includes Law Enforcement, Insurance, Data and Analytics with some of the top companies in the Financial Services companies in the industry. He brings this passion, experience and knowledge to engage with industry leaders as a trusted advisor and partner around the world.
