Webcast overview

IFRS 17, Insurance Contracts, is fast approaching. Are your clients on track or will they face a last-minute scramble?  As a result, will they overlook opportunities to enhance the insight provided by their finance team?

For many insurers getting ready for IFRS 17, configuration and systems integration testing is taking longer than planned, reflecting the complexities of IFRS 17, and the amendments that have been made to it, and this is delaying their ability to perform end to end dry runs.

How can these pressures be alleviated? How can they accelerate their progress and sense check whether they remain on track, including planning for the audit of their new systems and processes?

During this webcast we will be sharing insights from our latest IFRS 17 readiness assessment together with topical hints and tips to help accelerate your progress and make the most of the limited time until IFRS 17 become effective, including getting ready for the audit of their IFRS 17 result.

Following the webcast, participants should be able to explain at a high level:

  • The reasons for the proposed narrow scope amendment to IFRS 17.
  • The proposed optional ‘classification overlay’ approach available to insurers that first apply IFRS 17 and IFRS 9 at the same time.
  • How the proposed amendment applies to both insurers that restate and those that do not restate comparative information for IFRS 9 and some factors to consider in choosing which approach to adopt.
  • Some key areas insurers may wish to consider if proposing to comment on the narrow-scope amendment.

This webcast will last approximately 90 minutes. It will be recorded, and a link circulated for those unable to attend.
