Wage garnishment – the legal withholding of employee pay to satisfy domestic support obligations and debts including consumer debts, overdue child support payments, state and federal tax liabilities, and student loans   –impacts one in 14 employees in the U.S.*

With more than half a dozen types of garnishments, each governed by their own federal, state and local laws and regulations, and the legal and financial exposure employers have with garnishments, compliance is extremely challenging yet critical.

Faced with the potential risk of costly lawsuits, judgments and liabilities for non-compliance, employers need to understand their obligations when it comes to wage garnishments, and how they can help relieve their staff from the related cost and burden of compliance.

Join us as ADP Garnishment Agency Relations Director Corri Flores and Sharlyn Lauby, President of ITM Group, Inc. explore the impact to HR departments burdened by the responsibility of managing wage garnishments, and steps HR departments can take to reduce the administrative burden, including:

  • Latest wage garnishment data and compliance trends
  • Different types of wage garnishments and how each can affect both employers and employees
  • Impact of federal and state regulations on garnishment compliance requirements
  • How electronic processes can help manage wage garnishments to improve company compliance and mitigate overall risk
  • Best practices HR departments can adopt to more efficiently and effectively manage wage garnishments

ADP remains at the forefront of helping employers understand the complex compliance, financial, and strategic issues surrounding workforce management. Tap into our expertise to ensure you’re in the best shape possible for future workplace changes that may come about along the way.
