Transparency transformation and its business implications

February 14, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am EST

Participants of the live webinar will be eligible for 1.5 free CPE credit.

Global implementation of the BEPS recommendations has fundamentally changed the international tax environment, and these reforms are ongoing. While the BEPS project aimed to reinstate the underlying intentions of existing international tax principles, actual implementation has raised questions and stirred debate.

This policy debate has moved from a focus on growing the tax cake for all countries (where the so-called “real” economic activities of a company take place), to a debate about dividing the cake up. The discussion regarding taxing the digitized economy suggests allocating more taxing rights to the place where users of digital services and products are located.

As countries often disagree with each other on these issues, the risk of double taxation has risen significantly. Adding to this complexity, the transparency environment is being transformed, providing digital tax administrations with huge amounts of data.

Our three-part webcast series “Connected Tax in a changing international tax environment” will provide a holistic perspective on these BEPS-related developments and associated country actions that affect the international tax environment, including relevant developments in tax administration practices.

This session will cover the changes to the transparency environment and how these changes subsequently impact the controversy environment and taxpayers at an operational level.
