ASC 740-10 provides guidance on accounting for uncertain tax positions in financial statements. In this course we will explore the identification of, and accounting for, uncertainty in income taxes using the guidance in ASC 740.

After this session, participants will be able to:

  • Define a tax position and a unit of account
  • Apply the two-step approach to initial recognition and measurement of a tax position
  • Notice the rules for subsequent recognition, derecognition, and measurement of benefits of a tax position
  • Apply the rules for reporting and disclosures of uncertain tax positions
  • Examine best practices to identification and documentation procedures
