SUMMARY:Preparing for Changes to R&D Tax Credit Form 6765: A Discussion With the IRS
DESCRIPTION:The revised Form 6765\, Credit for Increasing Research Activities\, is expected to bring significant changes to how the R&D tax credit is claimed and how research activities and expenses are reported. The proposed changes represent an ongoing effort by the IRS to enhance the consistency and quality of information provided by taxpayers claiming the research credit.  \n\n\n\nIn September 2023 the IRS released a preview of the proposed form changes\, which added two new sections seeking detailed information about business components for both quantitative and qualitative reporting\, added new questions seeking various information\, and reordered some of the existing fields on the form. In June 2024 the IRS announced a revised draft version of Form 6765 to address comments from external stakeholders related to the burden for all taxpayers\, regardless of size\, to comply with these new requirements. \n\n\n\nJoin presenters from BDO\, McDermott Will & Emery\, and the IRS to learn what taxpayers should be doing now to prepare and to be compliant with the proposed form changes. Our esteemed panelists will address frequently asked questions about the new Form changes and share their first-hand perspectives. This session will equip participants with the knowledge to evaluate how best to integrate compliance with these reporting requirements into their R&D Credit claim processes. \n\n\n\nCLE Credit will be offered to webcast attendees who qualify from McDermott Will & Emery.

SUMMARY:Corporate Transparency Act
DESCRIPTION:Event Overview \n\n\n\nIf your company is an entity formed under state law\, such as an LLC\, LLP\, corporation\, etc.\, you could be affected by the Corporate Transparency Act (CTA). In an effort to counter certain illicit activities\, this act mandates new federal beneficial ownership disclosures for certain companies. \n\n\n\nStarting January 1\, 2024\, companies considered to be “reporting companies” will be required to file reports with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to identify the company’s beneficial owners. There are numerous exemptions to the act that could mean your company is not affected. However\, it is important to ensure proper knowledge of the CTA as accounting firms and other tax return preparers are generally not responsible for any client FinCEN filings\, and failure to comply may result in financial and possible criminal penalties. \n\n\n\nJoin us as we discuss the latest developments\, including new governmental guidance and lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the CTA.
