SUMMARY:AI governance and the future of GRC
DESCRIPTION:Description: \n\n\n\nAI is rapidly reshaping GRC by enhancing compliance workflows\, improving risk predictions\, and providing real-time insights. It also introduces complexities such as potential bias\, lack of transparency\, and the need for strong oversight. \n\n\n\nTo navigate these challenges\, creating a robust AI governance program is essential. This program must be carefully designed to ensure AI systems are used responsibly\, ethically\, and in compliance with regulatory standards. \n\n\n\nEffectively building such a program requires clear frameworks for monitoring and managing AI risks and balancing automation with human oversight. As AI evolves\, organizations must address these emerging risks while developing governance structures that foster innovation without compromising accountability. The future of GRC will rely on the ability to harness AI’s potential while mitigating its inherent risks through thoughtful and strategic governance. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\n\n\nDescribe the impact of AI on GRC processes.\n\n\n\nRecognize the unique risks of AI within the context of GRC.\n\n\n\nDevelop the skills to build a comprehensive AI governance program that ensures responsible AI usage.\n\n\n\nBalance AI automation with human oversight.\n\n\n\n\nField of Study: Information Technology \n\n\n\nCourse Level: Basic \n\n\n\nPrerequisites: N/A \n\n\n\nAdvanced Preparation: N/A \n\n\n\nCPE Credits: 1

SUMMARY:Navigating Sales Tax Challenges Facing Federal Government Contractors
DESCRIPTION:Every year government contractors are required to make billions of dollars in purchases of products and services in order to fulfill their contracts with the federal government. Many contractors mistakenly believe that they are acting as agents for the federal government and therefore all of their purchases are exempt from sales tax. With respect to claiming resales exemptions on purchases\, states have provided limited guidance as to how these exemptions specifically impact purchases by government contractors especially in light of the title passing provisions in most government contracts. A significant number of contractors are also unaware that a few states impose sales tax on contractors’ sales to the federal government. \n\n\n\nJoin BDO’s State & Local Tax professionals for a webcast that will outline these sales tax issues and provide a framework for understanding them. The focus will be on purchases and sales under federal contracts related to products and non-construction services.

SUMMARY:Beyond the compliance checklist: Risk-driven cyber GRC
DESCRIPTION:Description: \n\n\n\nCompliance frameworks provide a valuable foundation\, but to truly optimize your organization’s risk management\, it’s essential to go beyond the standard checklist that doesn’t account for your organization’s unique risk exposure\, risk appetite\, or strategic goals. To drive sustainable growth\, you must develop a tailored governance\, risk\, and compliance (GRC) program. \n\n\n\nThis session will explore how to create a risk-driven GRC strategy that becomes a true growth catalyst. We’ll discuss the importance of deeply understanding your business\, market dynamics\, and strategy to build a GRC framework that not only addresses compliance but also aligns with your long-term goals. \n\n\n\nWe’ll also examine how security management tools can enhance both compliance and overall cyber risk management. SUMMARY:Building resilience with IAM
DESCRIPTION:Description: \n\n\n\nIn today’s digital landscape\, organizations face increasing pressure to manage who has access to what information\, when\, and why. With the rise of AI\, this task has become even more complex\, as AI systems generate and process data in ways that are harder to track\, making it difficult to control where sensitive information is going and who has access to it. Strong identity and access management (IAM) ensures that only the right individuals have access to the right resources at the right time\, minimizing the risk of security breaches\, data leaks\, and unauthorized access. \n\n\n\nBut IAM’s role doesn’t stop at securing access. When integrated with GRC frameworks\, IAM helps organizations build resilience by enabling proactive risk management and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. \n\n\n\nThis session will explore how IAM strengthens resilience by providing secure access to organizational systems while reducing risk and ensuring compliance. We’ll discuss how IAM systems help manage access in dynamic environments\, adapt to evolving threats\, and ensure that access to sensitive data is always controlled. \n\n\n\nLearning Objectives\n\n\n\n\nDescribe the role of IAM in securing access to sensitive information in today’s dynamic digital and AI-driven environments.\n\n\n\nExplore how IAM integrates with GRC frameworks to support proactive risk management.\n\n\n\nApply best practices for managing access rights to reduce the risk of data breaches\, leaks\, and unauthorized access.\n\n\n\nDiscuss how IAM systems enhance organizational resilience by adapting to evolving threats and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.\n\n\n\n\nField of Study: Information Technology \n\n\n\nCourse Level: Basic \n\n\n\nPrerequisites: N/A \n\n\n\nAdvanced Preparation: N/A \n\n\n\nCPE Credits: 1
