2025 tax legislation: What to expect from the Trump administration

January 22, 2025 @ 2:00 pm 3:00 pm EST

Free 1 CPE credit

2025 is a critical year for federal tax rules. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) is set to sunset at the end of the year, and new legislation will be pursued by the second Trump administration and Republican majorities in Congress. Tax legislation might even be completed within the first few months of the year to both extend the TCJA and implement a number of other priorities. Our tax specialists will review the tax proposals from the incoming Trump administration and key members of Congress and identify tax-planning opportunities.

Learning objectives:

  • Compare the tax rules expiring at the end of 2025 with tax proposals from President-elect Trump and Republican leaders in Congress.
  • Identify the timing for tax legislation, including the impact of congressional procedures.
  • Evaluate tax-planning opportunities that exist now and in the future based on anticipated tax legislation.
