Economic and Community Development [1:50 p.m.–2:30 p.m.] – 2025 Higher Education Tax Outlook and Campus 2.0 [1:50 p.m.–2:30 p.m.] 2025 is set to be a significant and transformative year for tax legislation that impacts the higher education sector. Ruth Madrigal, KPMG tax principal, Washington National Tax, and Adam Glaser, KPMG advisory managing director, will discuss the 2025 tax outlook, including Campus 2.0 and qualified opportunity zone legislation and ways universities may leverage opportunity zones to drive economic and community development.

From Threat to Ally [1:25 – 1:50 p.m.] – Generative AI’s Evolution in Higher Ed. Dave Gagnon, Partner and KPMG Audit Sector Leader for Higher Education and Other Not-for-profits is joined by Saravanan Subbarayan, Managing Director, KPMG Advisory Managed Modernization Services, National Leader for Higher Ed Technology will explore how GenAI, which has been perceived as a threat to the mission of higher education, is evolving to be a strong ally to academicians, administrators, and technologists across colleges and universities. Institutions are gearing up investments in GenAI technologies to deliver better outcomes.
