OBBBA Impact on Health Care, Life Sciences

Many view the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) as mainly a tax law bill, but it also includes major health care funding and policy changes. In this complimentary session, our policy leaders will unpack the unique way the OBBBA impacts the health care industry.
We’ll look specifically at key Medicaid funding reductions — the largest seen in decades — and explain how those and other changes will impact states and providers differently. From hospitals and nursing homes to physicians and community health centers, there are OBBBA policies impacting everyone.
Our tax leaders will also offer insights on key tax planning opportunities most relevant for HCLS and provide immediate action steps to consider.
At the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
- Explain major health policy changes related to Medicaid, the ACA marketplace, rural health transformation
- Discuss why states and providers will face unique impacts due to these changes
- Identify which Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) items were extended or enhanced and how that could impact your tax planning
- Recognize the law’s changes to energy credits enacted under the Inflation Reduction Act
