Kim Hunwardsen, Partner/Tax-Exempt Organizations Practice Leader
Kim leads our exempt organization tax practice and is a member of Eide Bailly’s National Tax office. Her 30 years of public accounting experience has been devoted entirely to working with various types of tax-exempt organizations including private foundations, hospitals, higher education institutions, and other public charities. During this time, she has worked closely with many nonprofits to address challenging tax issues so that they are resolved in the manner most beneficial to the organization. Kim consults on issues such as mergers and acquisitions, formation of tax-exempt entities, unrelated business income issues, compensation and benefit issues, restructuring of healthcare systems, IRS exams, and community health needs assessments, among many other unique requirements of exempt organizations. Kim is a frequent speaker regarding tax issues that impact nonprofit organizations.
Deb Nelson, CPA, Partner/Nonprofit Industry Leader
Deb specializes in working with tax-exempt organizations to address a wide range of tax issues and guide organizations through tax compliance. She has extensive experience with tax consulting, planning, and compliance services and works with organizations to understand the impact of tax law and reporting changes and develops strategies to address these changes.
