- The Department of Defense (DoD) is finalizing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) rulemaking as part of the expanding landscape of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) regulations, which aims to enhance cybersecurity practices among DoD Contractors. The CMMC framework establishes a tiered approach to cybersecurity requirements, ensuring that contractors meet specific cybersecurity standards based on the sensitivity of the CUI they handle.
- The proposed new FAR CUI rule published on the Federal Register website will apply the controlled unclassified information (CUI) program requirements in Federal contracts in a uniform manner to protect CUI. This rule is one element of a larger strategy to improve the Government’s efforts to identify, deter, protect against, detect, and respond to increasing sophisticated threat actions targeting Federal contractors. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/08/16/2024-16464/semiannual-regulatory-agenda
