The GASB continues to refine financial reporting by issuing new accounting standards each year. Stay ahead of the latest developments with our Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Audit & Accounting Update. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of recent and upcoming standards, as well as ongoing GASB projects. Additionally, we will explore common financial reporting errors and hot topics related to ethics. Join us to stay informed and prepared for the evolving financial reporting landscape. Topics Covered:
- Recent Governmental Accounting Standards Board Statements (GASBs): A look back at GASB Statements No. 101 and 102, covering compensated absences and disclosure of certain risks. An overview of upcoming GASB Statements No. 103 and 104, including guidance, updates, and implementation insights on financial reporting model improvements and disclosure of certain capital assets. We’ll also cover current GASB projects and consider the potential effects of those changes.
- Common Financial Reporting Errors: Review of common financial statement errors and how to address those in your financial reporting.

Presenters
Janeen Hathcock, CPA, Partner
Janeen has more than 12 years of public accounting experience and more than 15 years of experience in the accounting profession. Janeen completed her fellowship with the GASB on December 31, 2021, where she spent two years working on various financial reporting projects and learning the standard setting process. She has also worked on multiple sides of the audit and conducts audits in accordance with GAGAS (Yellow Book) and Uniform Guidance. She helps conduct audits for a variety of government entities, such as counties, cities, and towns, and she performs both internal and external trainings on a variety of accounting and audit topics.
James W Ramsey, CPA, Partner, Government Advisory Services
With more than 20 years of experience in the governmental industry, James works with government agencies providing accounting, assurance, and advisory services. He has worked both on the client side and the assurance side and is able to provide this unique perspective to his clients. His expertise includes providing accounting services and audits of government agencies, including the performance of single audits.
Jamie Fay, CPA, Partner
Jamie has more than 16 years of experience providing audit and advisory services to government clients across the country, spending 100% of her time with her governmental client base. From completing annual compliance audits to assisting in the preparation of government budgets, Jamie has experience in both the assurance and advisory piece of the Firm’s practice.
David Peaden, CPA, National Assurance Partner
David has over 14 years of public accounting experience providing audit, accounting, and consulting services to government clients. David is also a member of the National Assurance Office and assists with quality control review, consultations on technical matters, training and development, and communication and implementation of new accounting standards.
