Schools Finance Power Hour: Is your district protected against cybersecurity threats?

Baker Tilly CPE Webinars

December 13, 2024 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm EST

Free 1 CPE credit

Did you know that 29% of K-12 school district members reported being victims of a cyber incident?

As reported by the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MSISAC), that means nearly 5,000 schools/districts have suffered a data breach, ransomware attacks, business email compromise (BEC), or another negative cyber incident.

To combat these cyber threats, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) published the first version of the Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) in 2014. Many organizations have implemented the framework to guide and improve their cybersecurity program. With the evolving landscape of cyber threats and the widespread adoption of the framework, NIST has now released CSF version 2.0.

Join us for this webinar as we address the challenges of implementing NIST CSF in education. We will highlight significant updates from version 1.0 to 2.0, discuss their implications and provide guidance on how educational institutions can leverage the updated framework to improve their cybersecurity.

Learning objectives

  • Explore the challenges of implementing NIST CSF in education.
  • Analyze the changes and impacts of the NIST CSF version update.
  • Discuss how institutions can focus implementation efforts for the new version of NIST CSF.
