The importance of transparency in public sector audits
December 14, 2023 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm EST
Auditors in the public sector understand the importance of transparency when conducting internal audits on public organizations.
Providing information to constituents builds trust and shows the public sector’s desire to be open. However, it can be challenging for organizations to understand when to be transparent and when to keep sensitive information private and secure.
This webinar will discuss the importance of being transparent while still protecting sensitive information. In addition, we will provide a demo of Oversight.gov, a website to share inspector general and internal audit reports with peers and the public. We’ll include an overview of Oversight.gov and walk through best practices for using the website as a tool for effective transparency.
Course objectives:
- Highlight the importance of transparency in public sector auditing
- Demonstrate how to balance maintaining transparency with protecting sensitive information
- Walk through Oversight.gov and showcase federal, state, and local report views
- Discuss how Oversight.gov can benefit you and your peers
