In today’s ever-changing world, nonprofits play a crucial role in addressing various financial and fundraising challenges. This conference is designed to provide nonprofit professionals and leaders with the knowledge, tools, and motivation they need to drive positive change and effectively fulfill their mission. Topics include mission-aligned investing, tax credits, and fundraising.

 


Session 1

The Rise of the Climate Economy and How Energy Incentives Can Benefit the Nonprofit Industry

The government has passed unprecedented energy legislation these past two years, ushering in the upcoming climate economy. During this session, you will learn about those energy incentives in the built environment that apply to the nonprofit industry. Those building new, renovating, or improving their property are welcome to join and learn if they are eligible to participate in the Energy Incentive Program.

Learning Objectives:

  • Summarize the introduction to potentially 1.7 trillion in energy incentives within the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
  • Examine the Inflation Reduction Act enhancements.
  • Analyze nonprofit examples of how energy incentives can be implemented into your tax cashflow strategy.
  • Explore the new and improved Clean Energy Investment and Production tax credit and how these credits apply to those investing in renewable energy property and generating clean energy for sale.

Colette Gagnet, CPA, Senior Manager, Business Credits & Incentives | Eide Bailly
Colette is a consultant with over 16 years of experience providing tax consulting services and analyzing complex tax situations from both sides of the desk. She spent roughly 10 years providing tax saving solutions for clients before going in house to focus on credits and global acquisitions for a Fortune 200 company. In returning to the client service side, focused on R&D credits and Section 174 studies. In joining Eide Bailly’s National Tax Office she is focusing her efforts on energy efficiency incentives while being a resource for the R&D and M&A teams.

Join us to learn more about the terminology of mission-aligned investing and define the goals for your organization. This session will show you how to build an effective strategy around implementing your values into your portfolio while considering proper fiduciary due diligence.

  • Explore the correct time horizon for your organization’s assets to optimize long-term returns.
  • Determine how to formulate a strategy based on the mission and values of your organization.
  • Discuss how to implement your investment goals and monitor the results.
  • Identify fiduciary best practices and responsibilities.

Presenter:

Steven Fraley, CFA, MBA, Principal, Consultant | Innovest
Steven is a principal and consultant at Innovest. He provides consulting services to retirement plans, nonprofits, and families. Steven is a member of the Innovest Investment Committee, which drives the firm’s investment related research and due diligence. He is also a member of the Due Diligence Group, responsible for independently sourcing investment managers as well as monitoring recommended products and strategies. The group utilizes both quantitative and qualitative analysis evaluating performance, understanding return attribution, and meeting management teams both at Innovest and at their offices. The group works in conjunction with Innovest’s Investment Committee. Steven is also the Director of Innovest’s Capital Markets Research Group, responsible for monitoring the global macro-economic environment, asset allocation modeling, and portfolio construction.

Five Ways to Accelerate Major Gifts

During this session, we will explore how CFOs and Executives can implement a process for their teams to close major gifts.

  • Analyze the new world of meetings.
  • Explore the track leading measures, not lagging measures.
  • List activity bonus for your performers.
  • Develop engagement plans for your top 10 to 20 donors.
  • Define face to face research.
  • Discuss how to ask for money.

Benjamin Domingue serves as a director, helping AmPhil’s clients build and lead their development departments. His particular focus is on major gifts, planned giving, strategic planning, and transformational “non-transactional” fundraising.
